model: Prussian 12 Pound Cannon, 6 Horses 1842
The Prussian 12-pound Protze field cannon of 1842 was an important weapon that played a crucial role in Prussia's military history. This cannon was operated by well-trained artillery soldiers and enabled them to effectively use and demonstrate Prussia's military strength. The cannon's aiming mechanism consisted of a traversing yoke and a traversing fork attached to the cannon, secured with a traversing key. This system enabled precise alignment of the cannon even after multiple shots, ensuring high accuracy. The 12-pound field gun had the ability to fire various types of projectiles, including caulk bullets, iron balls, chain shots, pole shots, stone balls, and blast furnace slag balls. This versatility allowed artillery soldiers to adapt to different combat situations and operate effectively. Over time, various explosive rounds were also developed to meet the changing needs of the battlefield. The limber was pulled by six mounted horses while the officer rode alone. In addition, two soldiers were able to ride on the Protze. In 1859, a conflict arose when the 12-pound field gun was used during the Battle of Solferino in Italy. It demonstrated its effectiveness and contributed to Prussia's military success. The Prussian 12-pound field cannon with Protze from 1842 symbolized the technical progress and development of artillery in Prussia and demonstrated its military strength and performance on the battlefield. The Blender model consists of over 340 individual parts, many of which are movable. To adjust the gun angle, please manipulate the gun barrel directly. The lifting lever follows your setting through a restriction. To adjust the angle of the holder and rotate the wheels, please use the local transformation orientation, as these are still tilted to the side by 2° or -2°. It is recommended to rotate and tilt the construction using the ax control object to prevent the pieces from falling apart. With the central null object you can move the entire scene as usual. Due to the size of the model, I had to forego some of the features. If you need detailed information about the objects that have been removed, you can find the original construction plans from 1842 in all details here: https://www.digitale-sammlungen.de/de/view/bsb10702065?page=4,5 . If you need help creating additional model parts, I will be happy to help. In this case, please contact me (Joachim Bornemann) via the forum. A simple request with details of the required objects is sufficient. Please don't overlook the available entrenching tools (shovels and axe) located at the front of the limber (the ax is stored in a holder under the running board). The lid of the limber can be opened. The horses supplied with the model can only be seen as dummies. Please use your own horse characters or the horses from the Blender kit. The bridle is essentially made from blender curves and is therefore easily adjustable. Additionally, I included the locking key for the cannon's aiming mechanism configuration for firing readiness. If you need help setting up the cannon to fire, please also contact me using the contact form above. I hope you have fun with the Blender model and may your 3D scene succeed!
