scene: Whispers By The Lake
I want to share this scene, a winter landscape, created with Blender, Substance Painter, SpeedTree, and Gaea.
The landscape was sculpted in Blender, using different textures to get the snowy look just right. The snow-covered trees were made in SpeedTree, and some of the plants were modeled directly in Blender. In the distance, you’ll spot a simple wooden pier extending into the calm, cold water, adding depth and a serene touch to the scene.
The cabin, boat, ladder, pickax, shovel, and oil lantern were all made from scratch in Blender and textured with Substance Painter. I used Gaea to create the snow-covered mountains. The clouds are volumetric, created in Blender, adding to the chilly atmosphere. The water remains unfrozen, reflecting the snowy surroundings and enhancing the realism of the scene.
I’ve set up two lighting options: one for a bright, snowy day and one for a calm winter night. You can switch between them, and don’t forget to link them to the World shader for the best effect.
To make it easier to work in the scene, I lowered the number of objects in the viewport. When you hit render, all the details will load. Make sure to unpack the resources for better performance.
This scene was created in Blender and rendered using Cycles. I also did most of the post-processing and color correction in Blender.
